High-performance metallographic etching solution formulated with 5% nitric acid for microstructural analysis of steels and ferrous metals.

Nital Etching 5% – KP-ETCH501 is a high-performance metallographic etching solution based on 5% nitric acid (HNO₃) in alcohol, formulated for the chemical attack of carbon steel, stainless steel, and ferrous alloys to reveal their microstructure for microscopic examination. Compatible with ASTM E407.

Used for grinding burn detection, weld inspection, microstructure analysis, and quality control. Made in Canada by Groupe KEMPLUS.

Instructions

  1. Polish the metal surface to a mirror finish.
  2. Clean with ethanol or acetone.
  3. Immerse or swab with Nital 5% for a few seconds to 1 minute.
  4. Rinse immediately with alcohol.
  5. Dry with compressed air and examine under metallographic microscope.
